Privacy Policy

compare⁄io ("we", "us") is operated by Gazi Mostofa Zaman, an individual sole operator based in Bangladesh, contactable at contact@compareio.website. We are the data controller for the information described below.

Account information. If you create an account we store your email address, display name, profile photo URL if you sign in with Google, your plan tier, and your daily usage counts. Authentication is handled by Google Firebase Authentication; we never see or store your password.

Content you submit. The items you choose to compare, any context or concern you describe, follow-up chat questions, and images you upload for identification. Comparison results are stored so that shareable links keep working.

Your follow-up conversations. If you are signed in, the questions you ask about a comparison and the answers you were given are stored against your account, so the conversation is still there when you come back to that page. They are kept separately from the comparison itself and are never shown on the public page or to anyone else. If you are not signed in, your questions stay in your own browser and are not stored. Deleting your account deletes them.

Technical information. Your IP address is used transiently to apply rate limits and daily usage quotas for visitors who are not signed in. Server logs may record request metadata.

Analytics. Only if you consent. See "Cookies and analytics" below.

To generate comparisons and answer follow-up questions; to operate accounts and saved comparisons; to enforce usage limits and prevent abuse of our infrastructure; to keep shared comparison links working; and, where you have consented, to understand aggregate usage.

Our legal bases are performance of a contract (providing the service you requested), legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, service integrity) and consent (analytics cookies).

Comparison requests, including the item names and context you provide, are sent to the Google Gemini API for processing. Do not submit confidential information, personal data about other people, or anything you would not want processed by a third-party AI service.

While you type an item name, the words typed so far are sent from our server to Google's search suggestion service so that matching names can be offered. Google receives the words only, not your address or your account.

Comparisons are AI-generated and may be inaccurate. Specifications, pricing and claims may be outdated, incomplete or wrong. Verify anything that matters against the vendor's official source before relying on it.

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the providers that run the service: Google Firebase (authentication, database hosting), the Google Gemini API (generating comparisons), Google Cloud (application hosting), and Google Analytics (only with your consent).

These providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. We may also disclose information where required by law.

Comparison result pages are public to anyone holding the link and may be indexed by search engines. Item names and context you enter appear on those pages. Do not include personal or sensitive information in a comparison you intend to share.

Our optional Chrome extension lets you save a page, a link or highlighted text while you browse, then compare the saved items later. It reads a page only at the moment you choose "Add to compare⁄io" from the right-click menu. It does not monitor your browsing, keep a history of the sites you visit, or run on pages you have not explicitly saved something from.

What it saves. For each item you add: the page address, the page title or the text you highlighted, and the page's own description and preview image where the page publishes them. These are stored in your compare⁄io account, in the same place as items you add on the website, and you can delete any of them from the extension or from your profile page.

Signing in. The extension signs you in with your Google account through the same Firebase Authentication the website uses. Your sign-in tokens are held in the extension's own storage on your device and are sent only to Google's authentication and database services. Signing out of the extension erases them from your device.

The extension collects no analytics, shows no advertising, and sends nothing to any party other than the Google services named above.

We use browser storage that is strictly necessary to run the service: keeping you signed in, and tracking guest usage counts against the daily free limit. These cannot be disabled without breaking the service.

We use Google Analytics only if you accept it in the cookie banner. Analytics scripts are not loaded until you accept, and you may decline without losing any functionality. Your choice is stored locally and you can change it by clearing your browser storage for this site.

Account data is kept while your account exists. Generated comparison pages are retained so shared links continue to resolve; if you delete your account they remain online but are detached from you. Cached generation results expire after the configured cache period, 30 days by default.

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export or restrict processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. Users in the EEA/UK have these rights under the GDPR; California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.

To exercise any right, email contact@compareio.website. You can also delete your account and its data yourself from your profile page. We will respond to emailed requests within the period required by applicable law. If you are in the EEA or UK you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

compare⁄io is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided us data and we will delete it.

We use authentication and database access controls to protect your data. Comparison generation, usage limits and plan status are enforced on our servers. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above, and where required we will seek your consent again.
